ESGAdvanced networks have no limits, the NRENs of Guatemala and El Salvador have joined forces to make a videoconference  in the context of the celebration of the Salvadoran Computer Professional, to be held in a congress of October 5 to October 6.

A videoconference supported by advanced network infrastructure will allow the president RAGIE, Luis Furlán, participate in the forum on "Impact of Network Technologies to eliminate distances,” which will be held on 6 October in El Salvador.

Furlán share views and experiences with a large group of computer professionals, government officials, entrepreneurs, academics and industry people, gathered at the Third Congress of Computers in El Salvador.

The event, which lasted two days, will be part of the celebration of the Professional Computer in El Salvador, which is held every October 5. As an experiential example of the effectiveness and benefits of advanced networks, Furlán shared with Salvadoran professionals via videoconference, thanks to RAGIE and Advanced Network Research, Science and Education, El Salvador (RAICES) infrastructure.

Furlán will speak on case studies of the use of advanced networks in distance education. For example, the case of the Universidad del Valle from Guatemala, where they receive full semester classes through videoconferencing supported by an advanced Internet infrastructure and non-commercial Internet.

This is a practice which is becoming stronger in the Guatemalan entity and has helped the students have access to talented teachers who for one reason or another are abroad, either because they have come to study for a PhD or because they are  on a training ride, for example.

The forum "Impact of Network Technologies to eliminate distances” will be directed by Furlán and the Guatemalan representative of Microdata, Luis Vettorazzi, who will be physically present in El Salvador, to discuss the landmark cases in which advanced network support education  and research.

"We will discuss use of videoconferencing and the use of LMS (Learning Management Systems), among others," Furlan details.

The Computer Professional's Day was officially established in 2003 by resolution of the Salvadoran Congress and, since then, the Salvadoran Association of Computer Professionals (ASPROC) has impulse it like a time for reflection on the role of Technology  Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in developing countries, as outlined in his blog Rafael Ibarra, president of RAICES.

This year, RAICES is one of the entities that are supporting ASPROC in the organization and to promote the event, which opens tomorrow at the International Center for Fairs and Conventions (CIFCO) of El Salvador.  The opening remarks will be made by the president of the union of computer professionals, Manuel Velasco, who will be accompanied by Dr. Erlinda Handal Vega, Salvadoran Vice Minister of Technology.

After that it will be the Third Congress of Computers in El Salvador, which will take place in CIFCO on 5 October and in the ICAS auditorium of the Universidad Centroamericana José Simeón Cañas (UCA) on 6 October.  The event is free.  The video on advanced networks will be on October 6 at 4:30 pm in the UCA.
