Dedicated to engineers and technicians members of the National Academic Network and their associated institutions, the course will be held on July 11 and 12  in the UTECNAR dependencies in Cartagena de Indias.

The course, with a limited capacity, is free and requires online registration.

Course Title: Creation of Identity Federation and eduroam Federation for Academic Networks
Course date: July 11 and 12
The course will be taught by: Camila Santos (RNP) and Jose Luis Quiroz (INICTEL).

Course Syllabus:
• Federation: The course objective is to show the theoretical fundaments and the necessary actions to create a federation. The content aims to help managers and technicians of the academic networks that still do not have a Federation or which project of setting a Federation is on an early stage, to carry out the construction of a Federation on an easy way and without significant difficulties.

The course will clarify the concepts of what is a Federation, Authentication and Authorization architectures, identity management on internal displacement, preparing Federation metadata file, the interaction between identity providers and the services providers, confederations, among other issues that are part of the construction and daily labor of an academic Federation.

• eduroam: Emphasis on procedures for having eduroam in your country, in their local nodes (universities), potential difficulties and how to fix them, how to convince network administrators, etc.. Another aspect is how to become a RO, the previous steps, the timing, the organization of your operations team (OT), the interaction with the OT of LA, how to set the OT of LA, among others.

Requirements for taking the course: Work in an Academic Network or an institution of research and teaching.
