 The activity, held from 28 February to 1 March in Buenos Aires, Argentina, was focused on advancing the development of an agreed strategy for creating a federated network of institutional repositories of scientific publications in Latin America.
On February 28 and March 1st, the project "Establishment of a federated network of institutional repositories of scientific documentation in Latin America”, held its second meeting in person, with the aim of create the legal framework for information management and definition of resources and services, which form the basis for establishing the framework of agreements and common policies.
 The activity was attended by members of partner institutions including Alejandro Ceccatto, Scientific and Technological Articulation Secretary of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation of Argentina, Carmen Gloria Labbe, Director of Innovation and Development of the Latin American Cooperation Advanced Networks ( RedCLARA), Francisco Vieira, Senior Specialist in Science and Technology of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Małgorzata Lisowska, Director of the Library of the Universidad del Rosario and principal organizer of the COLABORA Community, Martha Giraldo, Executive Director Colombia's national network, RENATA, and Margarita Ontiveros, General Coordinator of the National Council of Science and Technology of Mexico.
“Es muy importante tener repositorios digitales para toda la región que permitan poner a disposición de quien lo necesite toda la producción científica de los distintos países. En Argentina estamos trabajando fuertemente para implementar técnicamente repositorios digitales abiertos en todas las universidades, instituciones y organismos de ciencia y tecnología del país”, señaló Ceccatto, durante la apertura del encuentro.
"It is very important to have digital repositories across the region that allows putting at the disposal of those who need it all the scientific production in different countries. In Argentina we are working hard to implement technically open digital repositories at all universities, institutions and science and technology centers in the country, "said Ceccatto at the opening of the meeting.
This project, promoted by CLARA, seeks to contribute to share and give visibility to the scientific production generated in institutions of higher education and scientific research in Latin America.
