Opportunity of support to scientific meetings to promote the formation of communities CLARA PDF Print E-mail

The project Latin America Interconnected with Europe (ALICE2) provides support to researchers of the institutions connected to National Research and Education Networks (NREN) partners to CLARA (Latin American Cooperation of Advanced Networks), willing to become research communities using telecommunications and computing resources from RedCLARA, Internet Advanced Network of CLARA.

The groups of researchers that accept this invitation and are eligible to meet the requirements given below may receive the following CLARA support in the context of the ALICE2 project:
1. Funding, at the request of those interested, by ALICE2 program, for participation of up to two exhibitors of their choice in presence meetings (conferences, workshops, seminars, etc.) organize by research groups that seek to become CLARA communities and in which, among other activities and themes from those meetings, promote advanced networking.
2. CLARA will request support from the National Network members for interested researchers groups to advance its goal of becoming communities using the services available on RedCLARA through meetings via video conference involving researchers from those countries whose national networks are invited to this end.
3. CLARA will promote, at the request of those interested, virtual information days and seminars on distance, and these activities may be recorded for later use.

The research groups that ask CLARA for these facilities and who meet the eligibility requirements, may invite researchers from the European Community and other countries integrated through Internet Advanced Networks, to join them. Applications should follow the guidelines listed below.

Research groups must belong to one of the research areas listed below:

• Health
• Materials Technology
• ICT (e-Government)
• ICT (Grids)
• ICT (Digital Libraries)
• Technologies for Energy (renewable energy)
• Food
• Water
• Social Sciences
• Biotechnology
• Astronomy
• Education
• Natural Disasters
• Cultural Heritage (Archaeology and Intangible Heritage)
• Biodiversity


ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Eligibility requirements are:
1. Being a group of researchers working at member institutions of National Research and Education Networks (NRENs) connected to CLARA (see the website of your National Network, whose list is at:
http://www.redclara.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=33&Itemid=217). These are the NRENs of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Chile, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.
2. Have members in at least five countries of two subregions of Latin America related to CLARA, being the subregions the following: Central America and Mexico Subregion (Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica and Panama), American Pacific South America Subregion (Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Chile) and Atlantic South America Subregion (Venezuela, Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina).
3. Having a researcher who chairs the forming group, who will be the link with CLARA and the responsible to it, the submission of reports resulting from the relationship established between the researchers groups and CLARA.

The invitation to apply for this support program begins with this publication and became effective in 2010.

APPLICATION GUIDELINES

Applications should be made through a letter addressed to CLARA Management of Academic Relations (benjamín.marticorena @ redclara.net) with a copy to the General Academic Coordination (ana-cecilia.osorio @ redclara.net) presenting the program that is requested to be supported by CLARA. Must be specify the required support within those presented in the introductory part of this call and must be annexed to the letter, the relevant information and documentation on the background and motivations of the research group and its overall work program as well as the face meeting specific program that seeks the support of CLARA, program that should contain a section devoted to the promotion of networking using the services of CLARA and the use made of RedCLARA, Advanced Internet Network.
