For the third consecutive year, the plan is to celebrate this significant day with a series of activities to stimulate connectivity and use of this tool for academia and science. RAICES is an entity that is promoting the celebration. Internet Day was instituted in 2005 in the context of the Second World Summit on the Information Society.
May 17 will be held for the seventh time global Internet Day (DDI). This is the third year that El Salvador is planning a series of celebrations that will be extended to the week of 16 to 20 May, led by the Asociación Conexión and SVNet. Last week was held the first meeting to form the Committee for Promotion of DDI 2011, which drew more than 20 entities, some of whom have worked in previous years. Salvadorian Advanced Network Research, Science and Education (RAICES) is already part of this Committee.
