Members of National Research and Education Networks (NREN) met by videoconference to learn more about the benefits that offers communities RedCLARA.

RedCLARA is to launch a series of new services to communities and to improve those who already own, with the strong focus on supporting the generation of science in Latin America.

Communities Management Service, H323 video: SIVIC, document repository DSpace, webconference, IP telephony for researchers, event manager, video servers and web hosting are just some of the services that communities can have a RedCLARA through.

Some of them are already available, while others will join it this year.

"RedCLARA is conscious of moving from a cable management, routing, infrastructure, pure and simple, an organization that will generate knowledge and expertise in the region," explained Luis Nunez, manager of academic relations CLARA, during a meeting with NREN representatives.

The meeting was held using video conferencing infrastructure RedCLARA and connected to executive directors and technicians of the NREN as well as representatives of communities of different countries in the region.

The purpose of the meeting was to share the progress of the Academic Relations Manager RedCLARA in terms of his work with communities and services prepared for that purpose, as well as identify potential specific support from NREN to the communities.

One of the highlights of the meeting was to announce the launch of the new portal RedCLARA on 28 March.

"The new portal has a strong focus on communities ... The big change is that, through registration, communities will have 2.0 virtual environment," said María José López Pourailly, Manager of Public Relations and Communications.
