FRIDA program launches new call for ICT research projects Print

Sponsorships for diffusion of results and training in the form of small grants, are the types of support available in the fifth edition of this initiative that aims to develop regional capacities and that will b e open until October 5th.

FRIDAOn August 5, the Regional Fund for Digital Innovation in the Americas (FRIDA) has launched its fifth call for research projects in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), to contest for funds in the form of small grants.

This year, the call provides financial support for Sponsorships for Diffusion of Results, directed towards the organizations that receive financing, and allows them to focus on sharing results and promoting the exchange of knowledge and regional relationships; and training aimed at strengthening the researchers' and organizations' capacities in relation to methodological project design and execution tools as well as ICT investigation methodologies.

Project selection is done by the Evaluation and Selection Committee composed of a group of renowned specialists in the region linked to development of knowledge in ICT, who have the responsibility to identify the best projects that reflect the goals of FRIDA. Currently the committee is composed of Judith Mariscal from Mexico, Edmundo Vitale fromVenezuela, Uca Silva from Chile, Ida Holz from Uruguay, Vagner Diniz from Brazil and Enrique Peláez Jarrín from Ecuador.

According to FRIDA website, Special consideration will be paid to projects that involve the participation of more than one organization, particularly where said organizations belong to countries with different background and capacities complementing each other; availability of complementary funding for the execution of the project; and projects presented by Caribbean countries.
