The event, which took place September 9 and 10 in Washington DC, was designed to contribute to the definition and implementation of policies for scientific and technological development and innovation in Latin America. Benjamín Marticorena, academic relations manager, participated on behalf of the Latin American Corporation of Advanced Networks.
The meeting's objective was to monitor the activities of Member States in compliance with the mandates of the Declaration and Plan of Action of the Second Meeting of Ministers and High Authorities on Science and Technology, held in Mexico in 2008, and identify hemispheric cooperation mechanisms to promote these and other topics of interest to the scientific and technological development and promoting innovation. Moreover, the meeting was addressed by the President of the COMCYT, Dr. Lino Barañao, Minister of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation of Argentina, and was attended by 33 Latin American countries represented by ministers, local representatives of the science councils and technology, observer institutions, and special guests among those CLARA.
